Beserk is a leading alternative and gothic fashion store based in Brisbane (QLD) with a strong online audience that’s engaged with the Beserk brand. By adding YouPay to their store, Beserk offered their customers a way to request payment from a third-party. However, they also discovered potent social commerce benefits: by giving customers a social way to share their shopping desires, Beserk fostered community engagement among their most loyal fans that saw a ‘pay it forward’ mentality emerge – a mentality that’s se en Beserk fans sharing and purchasing each other’s orders in a way that would have been impossible without YouPay’s cart sharing technology.

Read on to learn more about Beserk’s experience and results with YouPay since we launched with them (directly from their owner and CEO).
We noticed YouPay on Culture Kings and thought it was a great idea! We also had a few customers ask if we accepted YouPay and thought we should get onto it right away.
It is something that was missing from the market – it was a unique idea that lets customers have that ‘feel good’ experience of paying for someone else’s cart that may not be able to afford it at the time or allowing people to surprise their friends by buying them exactly what they have been dreaming of. A driving factor was also how incredibly easy the team was to work with, the installation process was extremely quick with constant support alleviating any fears of an arduous process.
The love of paying it forward, Australia has had such a lot of hardships recently – as has the world. We found our audience calling out for a secure way to gift each other, while understanding the importance of mental health and caring for others has always been a huge part of who Beserk is. We love that YouPay has now empowered our audience with a new way of gifting and buying. We are not a one-size-fits-all shopping experience, so YouPay allows the shopper to receive exactly what they want and still be surprised. Within this transaction, keeping the shoppers’ address and other personal information completely confidential, and not accessible by the payer is also super important.
Definitely – when our customers crashed the site! That showed us that our customers totally embraced this new way of sharing payment, and the excitement of having a cart anonymously paid for them was amazing to see with lots of incredible pay it forward stories. We are always excited to improve the accessibility of Beserk and our product line and YouPay has allowed many people who have not been as fortunate as others to now have something purchased for them, which can totally change someone’s outlook and livelihood. Creating a good vibe is amazing and we know that everyone wants that hit of happy Serotonin.
I think YouPay will take over the world. It is a totally different way to shop and allows anyone around the world to purchase gifts and surprise friends and family, or provides the payer with the ultimate Serotonin rush of buying for someone you do not know. Being responsible for making someone’s day is an incredible feeling.
Positive – our customer base has grown, and we have seen a large increase in new customers. Our customers are looking for an emotional connection, and we are always evolving and staying focused on our customers’ need. Giving our customers what they want has allowed us to connect with our customers on a whole new level. We will be able to connect with our customers even more in the future.
I think this opens a lot of new avenues for people that do not want to use BNPL or credit cards. It allows people to keep all their information secure and share their cart with family or total strangers with the exact items they would like, alleviating the guesswork of friends or family of what to purchase for that ‘hard to buy for’ person.
Since Launch on the 22nd of March – 13th of May, YouPay has contributed 28.16% in sales, 20% in new first-time orders and 7.73% in returning customers. YouPay orders are sitting at an approximate 36%-38% conversion rate from those carts that are being created – which is incredible! We have had such an amazing response with YouPay and we now have a group dedicated to YouPay cart sharing and payments for our customers. This group is growing weekly, as we hold regular competitions. We have lots of plans for the group in future.
We have had a number of customers saying, “Thank you, they could not understand why they were feeling so good”, and it’s because of YouPay and Beserk. New friendships have been built and such a lovely community of positivity and kindness has been created. This was something we did not imagine when we started to promote YouPay – it has been incredible to see the direction it has taken within the rest of our community.


Beserk started back in 2000 from a spare room in a share house in Brisbane. With a dream to create unique clothing that I was not able to find anywhere else, I taught myself to screen print and started a small range of anime-inspired clothing. I built a small website with a mail order system and Beserk was born! Since then, we have had a rollercoaster of a ride, selling Beserk clothing through many alternative stores around Australia, and then taking our business purely online and selling other amazing alternative brands from around the world. It has been amazing to see how far Beserk has come, and we are still only early in our journey.

YouPay Valentines Day 2023 Promotion Terms & Conditions:

  • The ‘Promoter’ is YouPay Pty Ltd (ABN 70 644 120 990) of registered office address: 15b 10 Old Chatswood Road, Springwood QLD 4127, Australia. Promotion ends 16.10.22 at 2359 AEST.
  • Employees of the Promoter, their family members or anyone else connected in any way with the competition shall not be permitted to enter the promotion.
  • YouPay carts generated between 0900 AEST 30 January, 2023 and 2359 AEST 14 February receive entries into the Promotion.
  • The recipient of the prize is the person who created the YouPay cart, the ‘Shopper’.
  • For Shopper to receive an entry, the cart must be paid for.
  • The number of entries a Shopper receives is as follows:

  • The number of entries a Shopper accrues increases their likelihood of winning.
  • Winners are drawn randomly and there are no guarantees that a large number of entries will automatically win you a prize.
  • Prize winners will be drawn at automatically at 15b 10 Old Chatswood Road, Springwood QLD 4127.
  • Announcement of winners: Winners will be notified by email within 3 days of the prize draw. If a prize winner cannot be contacted or does not claim a prize within 28 days of the prize draw after multiple attempts of communication, the Promoter reserves the right to redraw the prize and allocate a new prize winner.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the Promoter’s control.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to investigate entries that appear to be fraudulent. Winning entries found to be fraudulent will be ineligible to claim their Prize and reassigned to the next eligible entrant.
